Shruthi Rao

Shruthi Rao (she/her) got a master's degree in energy engineering and worked in IT until, fortunately, her daughter lured out the writer lurking inside her. Shruthi has published 13 books for children in India, featuring libraries, STEM, incredible women, and spunky children. She writes a fortnightly column on kidlit for one of India’s leading newspapers, and freelances for Newsela, a NY-based news education website. Originally from Bangalore, India, Shruthi now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, and loves books, trees, benches, desserts, science, and long walks.
